Leading artificial intelligence organizations are reportedly collaborating with Qualcomm to develop their own mobile devices, aiming to process massive 100-billion-parameter AI models directly on the hardware.
Historically, artificial intelligence organizations have concentrated their efforts on software development, focusing primarily on web-based platforms and mobile chatbots. However, this trend appears to be shifting toward physical hardware, as prominent AI laboratories are now exploring the creation of their own proprietary smartphones. During a conversation at the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon disclosed that his firm is in active discussions with several leading, unnamed AI companies regarding advanced on-device processing capabilities. Amon indicated that these tech firms are starting to build phones equipped to locally run massive AI models featuring up to 100 billion parameters.
